Hawaii is home to four endemic dragonflies, including the giant Hawaiian dragonfly, also known as Pinao. The giant Hawaiian dragonfly, Anax strenuus, is the largest dragonfly in the United States, with a wingspan of up to 6 inches. It's found near streams and wetlands on all Hawaiian islands, but is more common at higher elevations.
