Kino Lau: Red Lava Mala

This mala is made with rustic red lava beads, speckled blue glass beads, purple accent beads and a purple tassel.
Kino lau is the Hawaiian word for shape shifting. Hawaiian gods and demigods can change into their different kino lau for a variety of reasons, including to hide, fight, escape, or help others. These different kino lau forms allow the gods to live in any part of Hawaii, from the mountains to the ocean, the rainforests to the beaches, and high in the sky to deep in the earth. The concept of kino lau is portrayed in the Disney movie Moana with the demigod Maui and his magic fish hook.
